Shakespeare’s parents, John Shakespeare and Mary Arden, were Catholic English people. His father was an alderman and Glover. His mother came from a wealthy landowning farmer family. The poet and dramatist was born as the third of eight children in Stratford-upon-Avon. The exact date of his birth is unknown.
